Keep On Keepin' On

2 Thessalonians 3:5 [Paul writes]:

"May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ."

From what I understand about the Thessalonian church, they were strong believers who were generally on the right track. However, persecution of believers had begun and those who thought they would not see death but rather see Christ’s return during their lifetime, were, in fact, dying. Paul seems to love them so much. He could feel their confusion and their shaky hearts. And I think Paul was very proud of them, like a father would be of his own children.

So it’s beautiful for me to read the words that offer encouragement and a way to continue their stand for Christ. He prays, ‘May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.’

I pray that prayer for you today as well as for myself. I get burdened by all the ‘stuff’ of the world. I struggle with difficult relationships and with my own weaknesses. I get tired of slogging through the quicksand of life. But..Paul prays for me [us] today for two things; first, that we finally get it into our heads that God is showing us His deep love every moment of every day. And secondly, Jesus has set the ultimate example for us to be strong, spirit-directed, and to keep on keepin’ on. My prayer today, then, is for us to lean into the open arms of the Father and let Him be God..let Him move us along the journey He has planned for us, not jumping ahead of Him or second guessing His intention, but waiting patiently for His nudge, and following.

Blessings on your journey,
Sarah
